An example of this intelligent design that Andy champions can be found in Divino’s power recliners. Most recliners look like recliners as the footrest is bulky and poorly integrated but a Divino always has sleek and flushed lines.
As Divino’s Dream Weaver, Andy spends a lot of time encouraging his people and partners to keep learning, unlearning and relearning things because knowledge is the brick upon which all dreams are built on and this brick needs to be renewed all the time.
Colin Tay
IDEA MASTER
Colin believes that good design adds value to a product faster than it adds cost. In fact, Colin will tell you that a badly-designed product is not necessarily cheaper to make.
As Divino’s Idea Master, Colin oversees the R&D and manufacturing functions of the company in Shanghai to ensure that only the best ideas make their way to customers.
Colin sees innovation as the responsibility of everyone in the organization because a great idea can come from anyone and anywhere, and many have come from the most unlikely of places.
He spent the last 15 years perfecting power recliner designs but he tells people that when they have perfected something, they should always tear it down and start all over again which is the only way to stay on top.
Mary
DREAM WEAVER
Mary believes that design is not just about how good a product looks but also how well it works. That is the biggest difference between design and style.
As Divino’s Smile Maker, Mary spends a lot of time with customers to understand their pain points because she often tells her colleagues that you cannot serve a customer at all if you haven’t walked two miles in their shoes.
According to Mary, the key to her successful 30-year career in retail sales is that she simply treats people the same way she would like to be treated. This is why customers rave about her unparalleled service standards all the time.
